He’d much rather be with her all the time and stops hanging out with his old friends. Before Lena comes into his life, Ethan is one of the popular guys, he goes out with a cheerleader and is on the basketball team.
You really get to know the characters very well as the book goes on. It is told out of the perspective of Ethan, and there is one chapter told by Lena. Seeing as she’s from a caster family, which are all claimed at the age of sixteen. They set out to try and find what these visions are trying to tell them before it’s too late because something terrible might happen to Lena on her sixteenth birthday if they don’t try to stop it. It’s not just a locket though, it gives Lena and Ethan visions from a girl named Genevieve, from over a hundred years ago. One day, while sitting around together in Lena’s next door neighbours’ garden they find a locket. Lena and he can somehow connect to each other in a mysterious way.
One day, a new girl moves in, Lena Duchannes. He lives in a very close community called Gatlin where everyone knows each other. It’s about a young boy, named Ethan Wate, who is has been having odd dreams about losing an unknown girl over and over again.
Parts of the book are very emotional, even just while lying in bed you might feel your eyes stinging a bit. It has a nice plot and is written in words which are understandable for teenagers who do or don’t read very often. It’s a young adult fantasy romance novel which really grasps you while reading, you just can’t put it down. It was published first in 2009 by Penguin Books in the UK. The two authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl really did a great job on this book.
